Catch up

Here's a TON of pictures of the last month or so.. My mom has been asking me to put up pictures of Christmas since Christmas morning..sorry mom. Here they are..












Some random shots.. in some of these you'll notice the absence of the very annoying NG tube!! She has been able to have "NG vacations" as her cardiologist put it because she is now eating baby food pretty darn good. The vacations only last about 3/4s the day for now, but it is SO nice to not be 100% dependant on that thing. Whenever we take it out her congestion and cough go away and they come right back when it is put back in... :( Someday soon I hope to be rid of it, but she still has a ways to go because she WILL NOT take her liquids!!







This is my bugger on his first day of PRIMARY!! I have a child in primary.. super wierd for me..


We came home on New Years Eve to this:

She didn't want to miss out on ringing in the new year... It is the only night in the last 4 months she has woken up like that. I think she must be the most excited of anyone that this year (shouldn't) hold any surgeries for her!! It's going to be a great year!! It's been so crazy for so long and it is really starting to calm down a lot. She is such a happy and social (if mommy's close) baby girl. She waves hi and blows kisses.. She is an absolute joy and just melts my heart everytime I look at her.
We had a cardiology apt. and a endocrinology apt this last week. Both appointments went great. She is on the charts for her length!! (3rd percentile, but she is ON) SHe is not however on for weight, in facts she's sorta been dropping off a little lately, but she is still following her own curve pretty well and everyone is happy with it. She is 15 lbs 5 ounces. Her heart function looked great, great pulses, great sats, great x-ray. It couln't have been a better cardiogolgy appointment(besides the fact the it took 4 hours). I'm always so nervous before those apts that we might get bad news, getting good news is a HUGE relief.
We are counting our blessings, always realizing the God is in charge of this sometimes difficult and crazy, but beautiful life... It helps to remember that..

Thank you to those of you who have prayed for Jersey girl's family.. They have been incredibly positive and strong thoughout the last week. Although I can't even imagine the difficult emotions they have experienced, I know from speaking to them that there have been many blessings from this. They still need love and prayers...thank you so much!

She looks amazing! So great to see pictures! Yes, I think we should have some kind of NG burning when they are out of our lives...it's a slow process tho. Keep in touch and we'll have to get together soon...we miss you guys.

Hey Ave, I love some of those pictures. I noticed her NG tube was out in a lot of them before you even commented on it, how nice. I'm sure you can't wait till you are ALL DONE with that thing! And Bel too! I like the picture of Benson in his Prince Benson crown from primary, cute. And the one of you and Bela. Talk to you later.

She is such a doll...she is so happy, so vibrant, so beautiful...such a little angel. Its a blessing to be a part of such an amazing journey of miracles..

It's so great to see Bela without the NG tube... even though it has to go BACK IN (grrr)... at least she gets a break! The BEST thing i've tried for getting fluids into Owen is his bear cup. You can only get it from a therapist.. I can't find them online.. but they are the honey bear cup with a straw in them. It's been our miracle cup and the only thing that may get Owen rid of his NG tube. '

I need to call you and talk...

Early in the morning on October 23rd, Tanner got a phone call that his sister, Julie, just a year and half older than him, had passed away. My sweet mother in law had to receive this devastating news from Bela's hospital room. 3 weeks out and doing great!

Bela has been doing pretty darn good. I'm amazed by her.. as usual. She dosn't want to be held back any longer! She begs me to go to the park, got to the store, get back to anything normal. We're taking it slow, but she's been out to the park a couple times when it's been not too busy and she's so happy to be sitting in the sand with her shovel in hand. Sometimes it's like she didn't skip a beat. She has times still though where she seems tired, or grumpy, or like something bothers her but she just can't quite tell what it is. But overall, oh my gosh! 3 weeks post-op and she's a rockstar! I'm just so darn proud of her, for doing something so hard and for coming out of it so well. She tells everyone that she just got her heart fixed and sometimes even shows them. I'm never quite sure how to react when she pulls her shirt right up. It's like she's actually almost proud of it, as she should be, but I cannot understand how...

First transplant post

This space used to be very healing for me. I wish I never would've stopped documenting here...I love knowing the first 5 or so years of Bela's life were well documented. But as I sit here with the familiar view of her hospital bed and sounds of beeping monitors, it feels almost necessary for me to write here again. Bela has had 12 incredible years of living life since my last post on here.  We were getting really comfortable with our cardiology appointments every 4-6 months, endocrinology every 3-4,  bloodwork every couple months, and occasional MRIs, procedures, or trips to the cath lab. Life has been full and so good. She's traveled a ton, ate a lot of good food, hung with friends, participated in theater, and found so much joy in her simple but rich life. We also had two more kids in that time.. more chaos and more love.  I don't know if anyone will still look for and find this blog looking for hope for HLHS, but I hope so.  We've now been inpatient listed for he...
