little beauty...






It's soo fun to be with her now...she spends lots of time awake checking things out. She's got such a calm content personality. Even when the nurses and doctors are messing with her she just grunts a little here and there, she very rarely cries.

She went down a little in weight again today :( and there was debate about whether or not I could continue to nurse her or start giving her bottles supplemented with high caloric formula, but I had to fight for them to give us one more day at the nursing since every time we nurse she does a little better. Since everyone's prayers have been working miracles so far, please pray for her to gain so we can keep doing this!

Other than that she's having a good day... Room 7T20 is getting a little claustrophobic for mommy, but I cannot complain. My baby is doing so well and I get to do more and more for her. Soon enough we'll be getting some fresh air..

What a trooper! You and Bella! Avery, you and Tanner are amazing. You're daughter is beautiful and so alert! She's doing so well, and I know that part of it is the prayers and everyone's faith you've been talking about, but also in how you and Tanner have been dealing with this. She's doing amazing, and you're amazing parents, and she knows this and loves you so much. I can see it just in the pictures, how she looks at you! We're so happy she's been doing so well, and I get so excited each time I see a new post on her. (I'm keeping Bart updated as well!) Love you guys!

She is so beautiful! I love seeing pictures of her with her eyes open. It's hard to imagine thta she just went through surgrey because she looks so healthy and alert. She's beautiful. We are still praying for your family daily and we will continue to. I hope that you'll be able to continue nursing her.
I'm so glad Benson came to play group today! After he got adjusted he had so much fun and he is so dang cute! Ellah and him were so cute playing together today with the easter eggs. I'll email some pictures that I took.

Wow you guys have come so far! She is the cutest thing ever! It is amazing she has been through so much in her short little life, but you would never know it by looking at her. She is one special little girl. It is so great to hear she may be coming home...we will continue to pray for that. And hang in there with nursing, it sounds like she is getting it. We are so excited for your family and know the Lord has watched over you. Hang in there!!!!

Early in the morning on October 23rd, Tanner got a phone call that his sister, Julie, just a year and half older than him, had passed away. My sweet mother in law had to receive this devastating news from Bela's hospital room. 3 weeks out and doing great!

Bela has been doing pretty darn good. I'm amazed by her.. as usual. She dosn't want to be held back any longer! She begs me to go to the park, got to the store, get back to anything normal. We're taking it slow, but she's been out to the park a couple times when it's been not too busy and she's so happy to be sitting in the sand with her shovel in hand. Sometimes it's like she didn't skip a beat. She has times still though where she seems tired, or grumpy, or like something bothers her but she just can't quite tell what it is. But overall, oh my gosh! 3 weeks post-op and she's a rockstar! I'm just so darn proud of her, for doing something so hard and for coming out of it so well. She tells everyone that she just got her heart fixed and sometimes even shows them. I'm never quite sure how to react when she pulls her shirt right up. It's like she's actually almost proud of it, as she should be, but I cannot understand how...

First transplant post

This space used to be very healing for me. I wish I never would've stopped documenting here...I love knowing the first 5 or so years of Bela's life were well documented. But as I sit here with the familiar view of her hospital bed and sounds of beeping monitors, it feels almost necessary for me to write here again. Bela has had 12 incredible years of living life since my last post on here.  We were getting really comfortable with our cardiology appointments every 4-6 months, endocrinology every 3-4,  bloodwork every couple months, and occasional MRIs, procedures, or trips to the cath lab. Life has been full and so good. She's traveled a ton, ate a lot of good food, hung with friends, participated in theater, and found so much joy in her simple but rich life. We also had two more kids in that time.. more chaos and more love.  I don't know if anyone will still look for and find this blog looking for hope for HLHS, but I hope so.  We've now been inpatient listed for he...
